If you live in the United States and have a valid auto insurance policy with liability, collision, and comprehensive coverage above the minimum required in the State of Alaska (see below) we will request a binder stating your policy as the primary insurance during your trip. If you have less coverage than required, follow the instructions detailed under International Customers.
We provide secondary insurance coverage through National Interstate Insurance Company. This coverage is the minimum required in the State of Alaska and will activate if your primary insurance exceeds it's coverage limits.
If you are an international customer or have less insurance coverage than required, you must purchase supplemental insurance through State Farm. This will provide collision, comprehensive, and the minimum bodily injury and property damage liability coverage required in the State of Alaska.
Supplemental insurance through State Farm can be less than $10 per day depending on your driving record. It is based on a 6 month policy, charged per month, and cancelled by you at the end of your trip. Once cancelled the monthly charge is pro-rated, per day, and the balance is refunded to you.
